Beacon is a Chicago-based, majority women-owned business that empowers customers to easily improve their indoor environment and protect their stakeholders' health. Our goal is to help everyone achieve better overall health, peace of mind, and freedom.

The spread of germs is a collective action problem, the brunt of which usually falls on essential workers and underserved communities. Because of this, Beacon's business model is structured to donate up to 5% of all proceeds to bringing the technology to those who need it most.

CO-FOUNDER & CEO

Brian Clark

Brian Clark is a serial entrepreneur who brings innovative ideas, products, and technologies to life. He is the founder and CEO of Beacon, a startup on a mission to leverage cutting-edge technology to restore trust, safety, and freedom to places and interactions. Brian has operated as a CEO, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer in the financial services and technology space.

Beacon is Brian's second venture as a founder, building on his success as the Founder & Former CEO/President of Ascent. Brian's dual background in law and business provides a unique perspective on the regulatory and market challenges we face, and he specializes in bringing novel solutions to problems with large, greenfield opportunities.

Susie Spigelman

Susie Spigelman brings over a decade of experience in early-stage startups and investing to her role at Beacon. This is Susie's third startup and her first as a founder, following her experience as an early employee in a startup that successfully went public.

Susie's background spans both the operational and investment sides of the startup ecosystem, with experience ranging from marketing and communications through partnership development. She has worked in sectors including climate tech, energy, and cannabis. Her experience with Fortune 50 companies also provides valuable insights into enterprise sales and customer support.

Andrea Clark

Andrea Clark, MPH, MSHC, bridges the gap between our technical innovations and commercial strategy. With over 10 years of experience operating in early-stage startups, Andrea brings a wealth of knowledge in product development and market positioning, particularly in the health technology sector.

Andrea's public health and health communication background is instrumental in technical research and shaping our product strategy to meet real-world public health needs. Her ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling market offerings is crucial to our commercial success.

Beacon's journey so far

2020

NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION

Beacon was born when the COVID-19 pandemic shut the world down and jeopardized our collective well being. Our founding team got to work on building a proof of concept pto help limit the spread of illness.

2021

PROTOTYPE BUILT AND PATENT FILED

Significant milestones were achieved in 2021 with the development of Beacon's Alpha unit and the filing of our patent application for our innovative disinfection technology.
